the Transit of Venus

Having made little progress in planning to observation the transit of Venus, i took the elevator to the top of a neighborhood parking garage. The same garage top from where i watched the first transit, (in 2004 i believe). The plan was to carry the solar-filtered telescope on my cargo bicycle and spiral up the 10 floors to the top. The elevator view was nice, so i pulled out my camera to take this video.
8 years ago the transit was in progress as Venus rose into a hazy morning fog. Straining to guess where the Sun would appear and staring wide-eyed, the disc of the Sun was revealed with the silhouette of Venus as clear as limbless Ladybug on a computer screen.

Sometime during the week, James rode his bicycle over to make music. The above video contains a short segment of the music we made.

Despite the occasional rain, i hope someone got a momentary glimpse just as the Sun was setting.

The weather provided a great chance to view the transit of clouds instead.
